In early July, Oerlikon Neumag held a two-day nonwoven technology open day event at the Neumünster Technology Center in Germany, inviting about 50 industry customers to visit the site and gain an in-depth understanding of the complete production process from raw materials to finished products. The event united eight industry chain partners and focused on showcasing the latest technologies and future trends in the current nonwoven manufacturing field.
A highlight of the event was Neumag's demonstration of the application of its patented water charge technology hycuTEC in the production of meltblown PLA filter media. The technology charges the meltblown material by spraying water mist, improving performance while reducing environmental burden. In addition, the manufacturing process of bicomponent PET/CoPET and PP spunbond geotextiles was demonstrated on site, showing Neumag's technical depth in the production of nonwovens in multiple fields.
It is worth noting that the event is not limited to equipment demonstrations, but also includes technical sharing of partner companies in their respective professional fields. For example, Weko demonstrated a precision oiling system, Dilo introduced innovations in needle punching equipment, Brückner explained heat treatment technology, and Mahlo brought online measurement solutions. Raw material supplier TotalEnergies Corbion shared the application of its degradable PLA product Luminy®, while Somatec and Comerio Ercole showed the latest progress in winding and calendering, respectively.
Andreas Frisch, head of Oerlikon's nonwovens division, said: "We hope to provide a comprehensive solution that is deeply connected with customer needs and runs through the upstream and downstream, rather than isolated equipment sales." He emphasized that through on-site practical operation demonstrations, customers can more intuitively understand the technical principles and benefits.
This open day not only showcases the latest achievements of Oerlikon and its partners in technology, environmental protection and intelligent manufacturing, but also reflects its strategic direction of promoting the sustainable development of the industry through collaborative cooperation.
