Essity recently announced its acquisition of Edgewell's feminine care business, which includes panty liners, sanitary napkins, and tampons. The acquisition includes the well-known Carefree, Stayfree, and o.b. brands in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as the global rights to the Playtex brand in the feminine care category. It also includes a manufacturing facility in Dover, Delaware, USA. The total acquisition price is approximately $340 million.
As of June 30, 2025, Edgewell's feminine care business had net sales of $261 million and operating profit of $17 million in the past year. The business employs approximately 500 people, with approximately 450 working at the Dover, Delaware facility.
The transaction is still subject to regular regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
